The Passing of Armies: An Account of the Final Campaign of the Army of the Potomac
by
"Many first person accounts of ther war are written in the style of the 19th Century - very wordy and somewhat pretentious. Chamberlain is not much different but his account of accepting the surrender of Lee's troops at Appomattox is eloquent."
