"Oh my goodness, where to begin?! This was one of the the most cathartic books I have ever read. I found myself immediately pulled into this book, physically and emotionally. So many of Kevin's life experiences are relatable at different levels. I grew up poor, but not at the incredible level of poverty that he experienced. Despite some very obvious differences in similar experiences, I found myself nodding to myself throughout the book, his strength to expose himself so genuinely as a sort of confirmation that my own feelings of abandonment, fear, anxiety and depression at different points in my life. In writing this memoir, acknowledging his choices, decisions, mistakes as well as victories and accomplishments, his hopes and dreams, he graciously validates all of us. In his acceptance of himself, flaws and all, he helps put us all on a path of self-love and self-acceptance. The amount of respect I have for this Man of love and peace is unmeasured. He is, in every way, a hero to me and an inspiration.
