I am afraid that there is not just one! We are a nation of immigrants, and I feel that the symphony of all our voices is who we are. This book exhibits are great American voice, but so does Their Eyes Were Watching God, and Huck Finn, and The Great Gatsby, and Beloved. How to choose?
