"This book took me by surprise and I read the following three in the series in quick succession. The lead protagonist, Regan Stein is a real ball breaking kick ass character but it is her developing and complex relationship with the Ship AI that is the real story. Spanning around 16 years so far the books, all complete stories in themselves, have developed wonderfully. I've laughed, cried (well, almost lol) been challenged and provoked. I can't ask for more."
