The Lunatic Express: Discovering the World... via Its Most Dangerous Buses, Boats, Trains, and Planes
by
"Hilarious, insane and incredibly heart-felt, Carl Hoffman shows us what travel really is, the ups and downs, and the most intense connections in the most unexpected places and settings. Very enjoyable read, and informative. A must for travel readers! "

Country Driving: A Journey Through China from Farm to Factory
by
"It's a big read, but Country Driving is easily the most comprehensive, well researched and written travel books about China. Funny and warm, it shows a realistic look at what is happening in China outside the cities - without the extremes. I appreciated how much he had researched everything, I felt like I didn't need to take it with a grain of salt. "

Gaysia: Adventures in the Queer East
by
"Although the author is on a research mission, I consider it a travel narrative as he travels a number of countries and continents in search of the local take on the gay community. Current negatives, and positives, facing the gay community throughout Asia. Very interesting read, extremely funny and well written. "
