A Separate Peace
by
"This was one of the first books I genuinely enjoyed reading in English class. I loved having the chance to discuss the relationship between Finny and Gene because almost everyone has a different opinion on their relationship. This book is wonderful, and I'm so glad my teacher had us read it."

Fahrenheit 451

"This is currently one of my favorite books. I love how Bradbury predicted the technology's influence on society. Even though this book was published over half a century ago, there are many similarities between our society and the one in the book.

One of my favorite things about the book is how quickly Montag realizes that his life is empty. I love how much Clarisse influences him in such a short amount of time. The book did not take long to read, but it has helped me realize that I should not live life like a mindless drone." See Review |

The Glass Menagerie
by
"The only reason I read this play was for a research paper. Even though I initially searched for a quick read, I saw how great a play-write Tennessee Williams was. I looked into the mother's relationship with her children and how much she wanted to achieve the American Dream. If you are looking for a book or play that captures the essence of the American Dream, you will find it here. "

Water for Elephants
by
"I picked up this book in ninth grade only because I knew the author had participated in NaNoWriMo. Right away, I was mesmorized by the way Gruen could tell a story. I can see how much work she put into getting the basic idea of this book. I'm glad that she has received so much praise for this book.

Through reading Water for Elephants, I discovered another Gruen novel, called Ape House. Just like the her other books, there is a great deal of research and effort put into these books. Water for Elephants mixes history of the Prohibition Era with traveling circuses and financial times. The characters are well written, and it is nice to see Jacob at two very different points in his life." See Review |
