"I have loved this book since I was in high school. Through it, I feel that I really came to know Lillie Langtry, Jimmy Whistler, Oscar Wilde, and more of the people in Lillie Langtry's life. This book led me to a life-long interest in the Victorians, and I have loved every new encounter -- with Dickens, George Eliot, Mrs. Gaskell, and other writers and artists of the period (including the French Impressionists)."
