I only remember both vaguely, but that sounds right. Updike seemed to have Issues. All I remember from the movie was the cherry pits scene. Eck.

Lol. I think it matters which order you see or read usually, but in this case I can say with confidence that I would like the movie best even if I had read the book first. I probably would not have seen the movie at all had I read it first, actually.
