The Sound and the Fury
by
"Actually far easier than Absalom, Absalom, the first half of this book always puts people off of Faulkner. Once you come to terms with his style, however, it soon becomes clear why this is one of the great masterpieces of American literature. I recommend reading any of Faulkner's other works first."

Absalom, Absalom!
by
"By far the most difficult I've read in my life, Absalom, Absalom! took me many months to wrap my mind around. It is Faulkner at his most paradoxical: intensely cerebral yet heart-wrenchingly honest, a novel of wistful reminescence and immense relavence to the modern world, and an innovative literary masterpiece deeply rooted in distinctly American storytelling tradition."
