"I read it many years ago,I own a copy and could read it again + again - Johnson was still in the throes of addiction and to say that most of the stories are hysterically funny, they are rife w/ a particular type of pathos both vulnerable and provocative and - did I mention that the stories featured characters in the throes of the desperation enacting capers driven by necessity-days upon days which are always the same day w/ little, if any desire for change. Johnson ha certainly matured since 'Jesus' Son'as a writer who is worthy of praise as well as a large audience-readers worthy of outstanding and brilliant writing -
