Kristiina Despite his name Mikael Niemi is not Finnish but Swedish. Thus his magnificent book Populärmusik från Vittula doesn't belong to this list.

Tiina Susanna Actually, his native language is Meänkieli, that is closely related to Finnish.
He was born in Meänmaa, area that is located in Sweden and populated by Finns
So he is both

Kristiina That doesn't change the fact that he is a Swedish citizen and the books are written in Swedish. No grounds to put him on the list of Finnish books.

His native language is (according to Wikipedia) Swedish even if he understands some meänkieli.

Kristiina But if make a list of books featuring Finns, he (or his books) definitely deserves a place there. :)

Finland is a country with an unique language
