Michael The author listed most on this list is Stephen King, strange.

message 352: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie The fireworks in my town were wonderful! You guys could read Fablehaven. That's a great book! Or The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks, that's also a amazing book!

message 353: by Brett (new)

Brett Sorge If you want to read a really good book with good research try Jeff Shaara. He only comes out with a book every 2 years after exhaustive research. His next book is due in November.
This is a big change from Patterson who comes out with a new book every month.

message 354: by Samia (new)

Samia Actually, Stephanie Meyer wrote some of 'Midnight Sun', but then someone stole it. =(

message 355: by Samia (new)

Samia Did anyone watch the fireworks the day before Independence Day??
I did...it was cool! ;)

message 356: by Samia (new)

Samia Why not 'The Host', Brittany?? =(

message 357: by Samia (new)

Samia No offence, Victoria, but 'The Host' was not original!

message 358: by Samia (new)

Samia I think my friend read, 'A Walk To Remember', Vampgirl211.

message 359: by Samia (new)

Samia Stephanie Meyer did not make the Twilight Series for money, Maysie!

message 360: by Samia (new)

Samia I think people are writing more vampire books, because they are jealous of Stephanie Meyer.

message 361: by Samia (new)

Samia I agree, Brett.

message 362: by Samia (new)

Samia Yeah, we did get into a big argument about Twilight/Stephanie Meyer.
Sorry to those who i mislead... =(

message 363: by Samia (new)

Samia James Patterson comes out with a new book every month, Brett?!
I like his books... =)

message 364: by Allison (new)

Allison oh u guys who like fantasy read Tamora Pierce's books there really good! Try Alanna the First Adventure (Song of the Lioness series)

message 365: by Victoria (new)

Victoria My stepsister loves those books :)

message 366: by Brett (new)

Brett Sorge Patterson just came out with a new book yesterday. He has several ghost authors and just edits each book.
By the way this Goodreads site is missing something. I was on another site and my laptop crashed. I can't find the other site, but it had the ability after putting in your favorite books to make recommendation for new books to read. Kind of like NetFlix. Anybody know about that site???

message 367: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Samia wrote: "Did anyone watch the fireworks the day before Independence Day??

My town didn't have fireworks the day before.

I thought The Host was very original!

Lol,"several ghost authors"? Nice. hahaha...sorry Samia I don't mean to be mean or anything I just found that funny.

message 370: by Allison (new)

Allison lol u mean all those authors are ghosts? jk

message 371: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Man,I'd hate to be those ghost authors, it'd be hard to write if everything went right through their hands. They must have normal people write while they talk or something like that.

message 372: by Brett (new)

Brett Sorge Ghost writers means that they get credit as co authors even though they write most of the book. If you check out Pattesons books you will always see a second writer on the front cover. When Michener was alive and writing it was reputed that he had 50 people doing research for him. Clive Cussler is doing the same thing.

message 373: by Allison (new)

Allison huh. interesting, i didn't know that

message 374: by Samia (new)

Samia How could you say 'The Host' is original, Stephanie??
I thought we were Stephanie Meyer likers!
Am I missing the definition of 'original'??? :0

message 375: by Samia (new)

Samia You found what funny, Stephanie??

message 376: by Samia (new)

Samia Oh...right...that makes sense, Brittany.
You can tell me why you don't like any of Sephanie Meyer's books, or her.
I won't get mad. =)

message 377: by Samia (new)

Samia Well...I think it's cool that you like ghost stories, Brittany. =)

message 378: by Samia (new)

Samia Okay then...
Now Brittany is scaring me! ;)

message 379: by Samia (last edited Jul 07, 2009 05:30PM) (new)

Samia Yeah, I love books too.
I also love writing. =)

message 380: by Samia (new)

Samia Oh.
Cute baby bro, Brittany! ;)

message 381: by Samia (new)

Samia I won't get mad, Brittany.
I promise.
I just really want to know why.

message 382: by Samia (new)

Samia Oh...
I'm sorry everyone.
I miscomprehended the meaning of 'original'.
How stupid of me! =(

message 383: by Jehna (last edited Jul 08, 2009 06:16AM) (new)

Jehna I am still in my teens too. I have not read to kill a mocking bird. But i want to read it. I have read both the Illiad and the Odessy. (my friends think i am weird for reading books that i will have to reread in high school but my teachers congratulated me.) Both Books were great.

Um... I voted on all of the books on the list that i have read this summer. Of course I have read more than those on the list but.... whatever.

All the "ghost stories" I've ever heard were kinf of dumb or funny, so they really weren't scary. 'Course I haven't really heard that many...

message 387: by Samia (new)

Samia I know that 'The Host' is written by Stephanie Meyer, Sephanie.
I just miscomprehended the meaning of 'original'.
Sorry. =(
I love 'The Host'! =)

message 388: by Samia (new)

Samia Yeah, your right, Brittany.
I don't get it...
but, thanks for telling me! =)

message 389: by Melissa (new)

Melissa garcia I've read at least half of the books on here starting with Harry Potter Boxset Books 1-7 which I really didn't like that much. I think J.K.R is a good author, but I just don't like the whole wizard thing. I really loved the New MoonEclipseBreaking DawnTwilight and i haven't read The Host but I'm planning to. I read most of Christopher Paolini books and they're pretty good. Stargirl was awesome and I and I plan to read most of her books. The Chronicles of Narnia are great too, I've read all of them and they are really suspenseful to me. And I consider Lemony Snicket one of my favorite authors ever since he wrote A Series of Unfortunate Events Pack - 6 Books.

message 390: by Tim (new)

Tim Storm Check out magentazephyr.com for a preview of "Magenta Zephyr and the Universe Bender." This is a brand new book that will make a great summer read. A fun-filled adventure featuring fiction's most amazing new heroine, mystical musical superstar Magenta Zephyr. Humorous, entertaining and thought-provoking . . .

message 391: by D/N (new)

D/N MCDERMOTT I only marked the ones I've already read and enjoyed. I put some of the list in my books to read.

It's hard to put the book into a few words-one of the themes is about those horrible murders of women in Ciudad Juarez,Mexico-hundreds-the biggst serial killer/killers in history.Lots of other themes but that's kind of the link-Stephan King with class! PS which would you prefer if you were going to give a gift?-Harry Potter one or The Hobit?

message 394: by Allison (new)

Allison uh well it depends on the person, but mostly every one already has HP so i'd give then the hobbit.
why?

message 395: by Allison (new)

Allison haha
the hobbit is a good book, U should read it.

message 400: by Cindy (new)

Cindy I am thankful for the Twilight series. My daughter used to hate to read... even cried to do reading homework. We read Twilight together then she devoured the rest of the series. These books opened the world of reading for her. I enjoyed them as well.
