message 701: by Taylor (new)

Taylor The qualities of these books are seriously mixed up.

I feel that many teens and children who are on here do not dare to read the thicker, more challenging books like The Hunger Games and the Harry Potter series. They are too scared or underdeveloped in the mind so they rave at the imitation literature Meyer presents.

I also would bet my life most of the voters believed the movies for the Hunger Games and Harry Potter were too "scary".

Please don't limit yourself and settle for your low reading ability. Step out of your comfort zone and realize there are MUCH better books out there than the Twilight series.

Also, most Twilight readers/fans have agreed to Twilight's critics after reading other books, not necessarily Harry Potter or the Hunger Games, but just other books.

message 704: by Diana (new)

Diana My daughters were reading "Twilight", so I gave it a try and found myself hooked. I hadn't read for years. So I was very surprised I couldn't get enough. Of course I read all of them. I read "The Host" also, which I liked even better.

message 705: by Martin (new)

Martin Read Always Yours. It's a sweet romance, a little exotic but nice. It had me smiling, especially at the end.

Drew Mega wrote: "I do not like stephanie meyer at all."

Yeah, she has no talent as a writer, she can put together a story(a fourth grader can do that) but the writing is horrendous.

message 708: by Emeka (new)

Emeka The Judas Factor by Michael.E.Ellah is a wonderful read! I need some more stuff by that guy...Does anyone know if other novels written by him exist?

message 710: by Jack (new)

Jack Hi everyone,

I have created a new group called Goodreads All Sorts and I'd love for people to join it or just even just give it a look. It's a group that discusses anything and everything. There will be monthly group reads, movies, and music. There is a folder for everything you could think of. I'd really like if people could spread the word because I'd love for the group to be a success. Here is the link to the group:

Thanks very much,
Jack :-)

message 711: by Neil (new)

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) I'm not doing too badly. When I had a look at my votes, I was able to delete some of them as I've read the book by now :-) Almost needless to say that I added others I very much want to read, of course... :-0

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) Well, I was able to delete two of my votes, as the decription says What books do you plan on reading next on your "to-read" list?. Don't worry though, I still have plenty of other unread ones to choose from... :-)

message 721: by Ajohnsont (new)

Ajohnsont I'm just now looking at this list. I've read many of them such a long time ago when I was in high school which was 30 years ago, that I feel like I need to reread them. You should include a reread category in the drop down list. But one of my favorite books of all time, The Book Thief, is not on this list.

The Shining

I want to read the shining because I have read other Stephen King novels. I also want to read The Shining because I enjoy mystery novels. I really like the way Stephen King writes his books. The Shining sounds like a book I would enjoy.

I agree with you, Rose. Can't stand Stephanie Meyer's books.

BookLovingLady (deceased Jan. 25, 2023...) I've read it, so I replaced it in my votes, but An Asian Minor: The True Story of Ganymede was really worth reading!
