Just wondering.. thanks anyways

message 507: by Claire (new)

Claire I think the list is pretty good. It really doesn't shock me that Twilight is at the top.A lot of people are reading the saga and it's spreading. I read them and thought they were pretty good. I also read My Sisters Keeper wich was really good.Jodi did a good job.

Lindsay Samia wrote: "Stephanie Meyer is the best writer ever! Stargirl, I'm sorry, but I don't agree with your comment AT ALL."

I think it's completely true that Stephanie Meyer is a bad writer. The plot is good, but the level of writing is extremely low. It's the level of a child in my opinon.

message 511: by Jovian (new)

Jovian i agree with david the twilight series are good but there are other books out the that are a good a them

Lucy Miller Donna wrote: "Stephanie Meyer and Dan Brown hold the top 4 positions? A sorry comment on literacy. . . ."

I agree, I read all the Twilight series, and I did like it. But I have read or tried to read atleast three quarters of that list up there, and those are some marvelous books. I think that the well-advertised books shouldn't be at the top beacause those more independent books down a little lower are just as amazing, if not better.

message 517: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Miller Stephanie wrote: "To people who hate Stephenie Meyer: You know...if you guys hate Stephenie Meter and her writing so bad why do you keep on bringing her up?

I have to say I'm disappointed that the hobbit made it ..."

I don't particularly dislike Stephenie Meyer as much as some of the people who have commented. I thought the books were good, but now I'm done with them, and it is finished. I am back on track. I think 'the Hobbit' is actually up there for the some of the same reasons that the Twilight series is. It is well-read, advertised frequently, on summer reading lists like this one, as classic fiction, and such. 'The Hobbit' is drawn out and classic, but then again, isn't Shakespeare and Hemingway and Dickens as well?

message 518: by Allison (new)

Allison hahahahaha sry i didn't mean to offend... it was just kinda funny... :)

message 519: by Terri (new)

Terri Stephanie Meyer and Dan Brown are at the top because it's sorted in order of scores.

message 520: by Allison (new)

Allison Brittany wrote: "Jerry wrote: "Who are the 5 greatest women writers?"

message 532: by Megan (new)

Megan my fave book here is Harry Potter #2, and I also LOVE Eclipse! I don't understand the dividing of opinions for which series is better, because I have read all, and i love them both.
I have a plan. I have all of the Harry Potter books, and the movies that are out, too! I plan to get the last three dvds of the harry potter series, (as deathly hallows is going to be 2 segments) and to hav a marathon! i will read the first book, watch the first movie, and so on!
I have the same plan for the twilight saga... I have the first movie, and the last two books, and i plan to get the first two books (which i have already read, but have not BOUGHT)and the last three movies!
Both authors and series rock, and i love them both equally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jim Shephard P.E. Eyes

This is one of the most entertaining books I have read. A detective novel with plenty of humour and jargon particular to the maritimes. Like the cover says - this is not your average detective novel. Shephard has found his niche. I can't wait for the next in this series.
