Thats awesome

Maggie Please. I can't stand these comments against the Book of Mormon. Apparently many people haven't read it, because it IS one of the best books ever written.

Read it several times, even though it was very hard to get through. When I looked at it criticly realized it wasn't that good of a book and the inspiration I thought it gave me was more detrimental than helpful.

message 354: by Dan (new)

Dan Cross Twilight is more highly regarded than The Bible?

...sigh.

message 355: by Rachal (new)

Rachal Twilight is very over-rated.

message 356: by Paul (new)

Paul Maybe the people who voted for the Book of Mormon are just underlining its fictional status. I realize the list is called 'Best books ever' but it's mostly fiction up there.

message 357: by Claudia (new)

Claudia Where is Atlas Shrugged?

message 358: by Marianne (new)

Marianne Chawluk Jasmine: How many books have you read if "Twilight" is the best book you've ever read?

message 359: by Kylie (new)

Kylie I AM ANTI TWILIGHT

Mary Since When is the book of Mormon one of the greatest books of all time? Who wrote this list? I mean was it someone of this persuasion?? Or maybe Joseph Smith's ancestors? Has anyone ever read the bio on this guy Joseph Smith? This teenager who had visions of grandeur? Now that's a good read.

message 361: by Lexi (new)

Lexi If you don't like the book or mormon being up there then vote for other books to put it down

It was just a few guys and a couple of hundred of their wives who voted.

Great idea Tom!!

message 364: by Lexi (new)

Lexi Wow all this over a book , man people are wow

Mary Just feedback kiddo. That is why we are here right? We have to learn to take the good comments as well as the bad comments on our choices. We are all just doing our tasks!! Don't be offended.

message 366: by Pedro (new)

Pedro Sometimes I have to admit that i feel a little bit scared when I see "pop-media" books and bestsellers coming first than classics, like The Odyssey for example, in the 'Best Books Ever List'.

message 367: by Mary (new)

Mary You are right about this. I know this is true.

message 368: by Lexi (new)

Lexi I am not offened just annoyed and surprised.

message 369: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Yes Twilight is getting very annoying i mean it is not the best series ever there are better ones. I think the Host was better then twilight put together.

message 370: by Mary (new)

Mary I will have to check it out. I have this book already so i will put it down as a must read for later. Thanks.
Mary

Exactly what I thought too. How many Mormons sent the word out to their wards to vote?

message 372: by Lexi (new)

Lexi Do you really think that all of us mormons would get together and vote for the book of mormon . It is just a silly list no one would be stupid enough to do that

message 373: by Mary (new)

Mary No comment on Mormonism.

message 374: by Mary (last edited Jul 17, 2009 01:13PM) (new)

Mary Paul wrote: "The Book of Mormon? You gotta be kidding me. I'd put "Where the Wild Things Are" as being more "literature" than that book.

I agree, this list is loaded and biased.
Like someone else mentioned it must have been all the wives of the Mormon men voting....ha.

"Yes even number 6 on this list is not the bible it is the Mormon version of the bible...what is going on here?"

message 376: by Lexi (new)

Lexi Well let me tell ya. We went and called a bunch of mormons and said lets go vote the book of mormon for the second top book on a silly little list. Ha like any of us would do that. Some people do that with twilight and I don't see any one complaining about them.

message 377: by Lexi (new)

Lexi What s going on here is people vote for the books they like. People like that book belive it or not. Surprising isn't it .

message 378: by Mary (new)

Mary End of my discussion on the lists. It is just a idiotic list with someone else's agenda. So be it. There are many other book clubs without agendas... By the way I also agree with you that Twilight should not be on the best book ever list, but it is a matter of generational preference of fiction I guess. I'm done with Mormonism Lexi. Thanks for your feed back though. It has been fun.

message 379: by Lexi (new)

Lexi Yourwelcome Mary , the pleasure was all mine. I wish I could have said more. It has been a blast. And I never said Twilight shouldn't be on there because it should I love Twilight , and thats why people vote for it . Again surprising isn't it.

message 380: by Sarah (last edited Jul 18, 2009 07:24AM) (new)

Sarah I have to agree with some of the people who posted before me. Twilight is an extremely popular series right now, but this is a list of the best books ever. To be on such a list, I would think a book would need to maintain its popularity for a significant period of time. There are trends, and then there are classics.

message 381: by Lexi (new)

Lexi I agree with Sarah

Dana Marla wrote: "this is the second list--worst books was the first--and i'm done. this is madness. i mean, how many mormons congregated to vote the book of mormon as a top 100 book? really?"

I was thinking the same thing!

message 383: by Lexi (new)

Lexi Oh my heck why is it such a HUGE deal if the book of mormon is on there. You guys are funny .LOl

Me, too. I've just started the Glass Castle and I think it's quickly getting right up there!

message 394: by [deleted user] (new)

the latest and marked "new" comments are from 2008?
Time to do some updating, Goodreads. And go in ascending order, NOT descending order, and comments to disappear after 6 months or so! This is ridiculous!

I am with you all the Way!!!! I love it !!!

message 396: by Camry (new)

Camry well have you even read it? You don't have to be Mormon to enjoy a good book.

Vivien Great List of Books :)

message 400: by [deleted user] (new)

What are all the Mormon books everyone's talking about? A "bible" type thing, factual memoirs or stories of Mormon families, or fictional stories with the genre of Mormon type living?

Xox: why does a simple LIST of books of Mormans make you dislike Mormons???
