Actually the Bible should be 1, the Book of Mormon 2, Then from there.

Just sayin......"
I think a book doesn't belong on this list until it is at least 10 years old.
A good book will stand the test of time whereas rubbish like Twilight will soon be forgotten.

Preach!

It is rather a "Lamest" book ever list!
I mean, Seriously, all the teen reads are in the top!!

Deep, I think there are some good books in this list. The problem, unfortunately, is that you have to do quite a lot of sifting to find them.

Is our culture degrading? I don't think so. More teenagers are reading and becoming active on sites like this. Does it dillute the quality of literature overall? Maybe. But maybe in 10 years all of these people will STILL be reading, and they'll be reading smarter?
Don't hate. Celebrate.

seriously, jane austen? errughhh."
Jane Austen is amazing! What are you talking about?!

I can understand how "The Book of Mormon," is on that list but before The Bible? No way..."
The Bible is the best book ever written, the Word of God! It should ALWAYS be at the top of the list!

Agreed!

I mean, I'm a young woman as well and I do read YA novels a lot, but most of them is good for some easy reading and I'd never, ever put them here There's a reason this list is called "The Best Books Ever"! I'm just ashamed when I see such classics as "1984" or "The Picture of Dorian Gray" standing after "The Hunger Games" or "Twilight". They might be pretty good, but let's face it - no one's going to remember them after some time passes. :/
And this comes from me, a huge "Harry Potter" maniac, who loves the book but would never call it the best book ever (well, maybe the best YA novel, but there's a different list for this...).

Could it be because real readers prefer reading to voting?
BTW... How many of those complaining about the list have scrolled through, from the top to the end?
:D

I have plenty of guilty pleasures of my own and their silly, over-the-top pulp novel qualities don't diminish my enjoyment of them or lessen their impact on my childhood.
Had you plucked "Interview with the Vampire" out of my hands at age 13 and said "this is girly, poorly-written junk", I'd have hated you forever... and felt extremely bad about myself.
If you do the same now, I'll smack you over the head with it and say, "Yeah, yeah it is. I still really like it. Fight me."
Opinions are like... well, you know the rest.

Twilight number 3 and The Lord of the Rings number 56?! Are you kidding me, right?
WHERE ARE WE LIVING?!
This is too much...

LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Their literature is nauseating to be honest :/

COME ON!! Do you read this? ----> "Best book ever" <---- and you vote for Twilight? This is shit...
I'm fine with J.K. Rowling but i don't think that The Hunger Games is the best book ever. (I like the book. <3 But no.)

... and because they're looking for role models--for actual heroes, characters you want to root for, or even emulate. Curiously, 'grown-up' literature offers very few of those.
Thank you for your refreshing comment, Corey. :)

You have got to admit it's a great story!

i 1oo& agree!
