April has anyone noticed how on the worst books ever, people are complaining about how the books on there are amazing, an on this list people are complaining on how the books are really bad??????? I just don't get it....

Good point. But still, I didn't like the series very much. She should have stuck with Gale.

Man, you have very fluent writing. Have you ever tried being an author. I've sure tried, but alas, I failed. Sigh...

Betsy THE OUTSIDERS ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IT IS MY FAVORITE BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

message 1706: by Sue (new)

Sue Four of the top five best books of ALL TIME are the Twilight series? Seriously?? I can't decide if this is list is meant to be satiricle or just pathetic.

Love the reference from 'Tombstone". great movie and witty

message 1708: by Katy (new)

Katy Ok twilight should not even be on the list. Why is everyone obsessed with it it is pure crap the characters are sooo shaky and they change and not in a good way on every page my opinion is that anyone that likes it should have a brain check the hunger games by suzanne Collins should be number one it is well written, something stephenie Meyer knows nothing about. This list is a joke twilight should be burned and buried

message 1709: by [deleted user] (new)

Truly, Madly, Deeply.
by Faraaz Kazi (Goodreads Author)

The Book is number 2 on the list , right now. I think goodreads ain't that good anymore !!!

message 1710: by Navaneeta (new)

Navaneeta But considering that Twilight tops the list, what else can one expect?! Most of my favourite books have ended up in the Top 20 of the worst books of all time.

message 1711: by [deleted user] (new)

When are you gonna give me a call sweetheart.

message 1712: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) I know it's pointless...I know this is really a "teenybopper" popularity contest (yes I just dated myself)...I know that it means nothing in the reality of how good a book actually is. BUT every time I look at this list I have to think, "you must be kidding". My only hope is that the people who actually think "Twilight" is "The Best Book Ever" (the way that's phrased gives me hope in that the 'Ever" speaks to a very young audience) will grow....

I live in hope. If Twilight shows the depth of thought we have come to, we may be be in trouble.

Please, move down the list a bit...try "To Kill a Mockingbird". Just try it.

message 1713: by Tom (new)

Tom Haha, a hilarious list!

message 1714: by Tom (new)

Tom The 'Best Books Ever' list of course! That's what we're all talking about, right?

message 1715: by Scott (new)

Scott M. Why are the Twilight novels on the favorite books list? Twilight is just a $2 romance series that involves a so-called "vampire" who has a rare form of skin cancer that makes his skin sparkle like a disco ball and then meets a girl who's NOT whatever he's supposed to be. Seriously. C'mon, Stephanie Meyer. No more of this garbage.

message 1716: by Scott (new)

Scott M. Why is there the novel "Dune" doing in the favorite books list, as well? I get enough "Dune" power while attempting to make a Nesquick drink out of boredom.

message 1717: by Scott (new)

Scott M. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is the greatest piece of British literature in science fiction ever!!! RIP Douglas Adams. :(

message 1718: by Scott (new)

Scott M. Ayn Rand??? Really?? She's a Nazi-sympathizer, isn't she?

message 1719: by Scott (new)

Scott M. BTW, get over the fact that I've posted four...UPDATE: Five comments so far. LOL

message 1720: by Scott (new)

Scott M. Ayn Rand??? The Nazi-sympathizer??? Wow.

message 1721: by Scott (new)

Scott M. I personally thought Night was extremly depressing. I mean, seriously. Staring down at these Holocaust descriptions through a German-Jewish man's eyes, JESUS! That had to be intense.

message 1722: by Scott (new)

Scott M. Dune is on this list? I get enough of "Dune" power when attempting to make a Nesquick drink. JK

message 1723: by Jacqulyn (new)

Jacqulyn Murray Jacob

Eva This list is seriously a joke, like come on!! All 4 twilight books are at the top of the list, who voted on this?? 12 year old girls!?!!?!

message 1726: by Savannah (new)

Savannah Jane how is The Catcher In The Rye all the way at number 261?! i just finished this book yesterday and i can honestly say that it was one of my most favorite books of all time. it was so wonderfully bittersweet, honest, and raw. no book will ever compare.

message 1727: by Βασίλειος (new)

Βασίλειος the list is a joke! seriously now twilight?!

message 1728: by Car (new)

Car Ummmmmm I AM A TWI-HARD FAN!!!!! TWILIGHT ALL THE WAYY. Plus I haven't read ANY of the other books on that list yet. :/ I am ashamed. But we should put more up to date books on that list for people who read whats coming out now...

message 1729: by [deleted user] (new)

In ten years, the Twilight books will be replaced by another author, and repeat, repeat. This list shouldn't include any books less than twenty years old so it won't be so skewed. I need to find the Best Classic Literature of all time here...

message 1730: by Luna (new)

Luna twilight as the best book ever, really?

The fact that i'm only 14 makes me not want to voten i have so many books to read, but as a loyal harry potter fan, i might just vote for that...

message 1731: by Maxine (new)

Maxine Pardon my french, but why the fucking hell are 4 of the top 5 books fucking Stephanie Myer? I mean what the hell? And before all you twi-tards come stabbing at me, Yes, I've read the books (and hated every minute) and Yes, I still think-nay, know-that they are total dishrags that are not worth the paper they are printed on. I came on this list to look for more books to read, but once presented with this atrocity, I shall take myself elsewhere. Good Riddence.

message 1732: by Luna (new)

Luna Leslie wrote: "Twilight is number 4? Give me a friggin break people!!! Entertaining? Slightly. A classic piece of literature? Absolutely not! "

i agree, it just doesn't belong there and no, i'm not going to day harry potter does, 'cause it doesn't if it was a youngh adult or childerns book list it dit

Maxine Car wrote: "Ummmmmm I AM A TWI-HARD FAN!!!!! TWILIGHT ALL THE WAYY. Plus I haven't read ANY of the other books on that list yet. :/ I am ashamed. But we should put more up to date books on that list for people..."

quick question...Why why why why why why WHY?!?! Not trying to be mean, just genuinely curious.

message 1734: by Shane (new)

Shane Seriously people? The Twilight books in the top ten? I'm not denying that they are entertaining books with engaging stories. But up against all these legendary books. I find that hard to swallow. I could even accept one of them up there, but all 4, no way. That's so sad.

message 1735: by Shane (new)

Shane Greg wrote: "Wow, some of these folks need to read more. Or age more. Or go to school, or something. I mean, really."

Amen to that.

Shane Josef wrote: "Molly wrote: "Ah the stupidity of lists. You'll notice the Best and Worst lists are almost identical. "

Um, best and worst, in this case, is all about opinion. If to one person purely entertainment value makes something the best, then so be it. I mean, I'm heartbroken to see the Twilight series dominating like this, but that's the reality of it. It doesn't make things less valid though. When you create a list like this, to be voted on, you are going to see things representative of those who vote. Same thing that happens in the United States. The elected officials are the winners of the majority of VOTERS, not particularly the majority of the people, seeing as a lot of people don't vote.

message 1737: by Paul (new)

Paul So the new way to find a book worth reading is to ignore the top 10 on the list.

message 1738: by S (new)

S Who grouped books like Twilight and Vampire Academy with some of the greatest classics? Simpletons, I tell ya. Simpletons!

message 1739: by [deleted user] (new)

Seeing the Twilight series makes me wonder who the hell made this list.

message 1740: by Vinitha (new)

Vinitha Twilight is just awesome!!!!i'm so obsessed with it..ive read it many times...n i just love Edward!!!the best book ever!!!

message 1741: by Paul (new)

Paul Can we create separate lists for teenagers and adults? And all the adults who read nothing but Harry Potter and Twilight can vote on the teenage list.

message 1742: by Mack (new)

Mack Battle field Earth, Just for having the distinction of being a great read and made into the worst movie of all time. But all kidding aside with all the pitiful books on this list read" Battlefield Earth" and tell me you didn't love it. But be warned under no circumstances read another book by the author.

message 1743: by Mack (new)

Mack I would love to hear your opinion. bmack

message 1744: by Michelle (new)

Ayn Rand was basically an ultra conservative capitalist with a fascist core. Her books were crap. Just my opinion.

Mack Lkemigh wrote: "I have only read Anthem. It is interesting to compare it with other modern dystopian books such as The Maze Runner and the Hunger Games. The resurgence of the genre is intriguing and seems to mark ..."

There is that little matter of a bazillion miles between Anthem and for example "one flew over the Kuckoo's nest".

message 1747: by Maddie (new)

Maddie Smith <3 perks of being a wallflower.

but at the same time, how can one single book be better than every single other. it should be best by genre. i love so many different books its hard to pick a #1

and some things deserve to be there because they are classics and they have stood the test of time.

i work in a bookstore and i can honestly say there is no single book that sells better than any other. for all the sales twilight has had, i can say we've honestly sold just as many of the millenium trilogy... and they are two very very different books.

message 1748: by Mack (new)

Mack Is this about sales? I do agree that everybody has a reason why they read and they all work for me. But I like to call it guilty pleasures. But lets be honest some books are special. Some books connect with your soul and leave you breathless. These are the books I would like to see on this list for my own selfish purposes. I would try not to repeat the same old tired vampire kiddie books. I read the series and the Hunger games and I admit] it was fun. But come on.

message 1749: by Mack (new)

Mack L, Ron Hubbard is crap (the father of pulp fiction ) And he wrote hundreds of books not even counting his biggest fantasy of all and it was all bad. But he wrote one book that is a great sci fi adventure in the true sense of classic story telling. And it's not on anybodies bestseller list. I recommended it because most people probably missed it. It's a sleeper. The kind of title that might be fun for the reader who might not be into science fiction but will still enjoy it. Read it and tell me it's not more than guilty pleasure. I maybe wrong but this list is not about voting for your favorite book but suggesting some great reads that may not be on your radar. But read it first, trust me it will be easy.
