Mike (the Paladin) I don't drop back that often. I vote on some these lists, but in the end they don't mean a lot, just the taste of the ones who vote. Quantity and quality. For a while Twilight has ended up on every list going. Sooner or later another fad book or books will replace them. Just the way it goes.

message 1452: by Peter (new)

Peter Franny and Zooey. Really.

Diana I browse this list for reading ideas, I browse UK book lists as well. Oddly enough Harry Potter and Winnie the Poo top all of their lists (English writers), not a Book of Mormon or Twilight book to be found (Mormon writers). Lists are only a reflection of the people creating them... this particular list has a strong Mormon base and within a Mormon community it is probably a good list. For the rest of us, we need to find a site that has a broader base of opinion to get a more realistic list of what is a good book.

message 1456: by Antra (new)

Antra Arora Nice books. i have resd the most of the books. Why are you people complaining? If you have a promblem then what should we do? Due to these comments i thought the books may be bad but they are really good.........

message 1457: by Antra (new)

Antra Arora oops!!!!! i wrote resd instead of read....

Haha, same here!

message 1459: by Antra (new)

Antra Arora thank god atleast someone wrote good about twilight

message 1460: by Lacie (new)

Lacie Solt Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson should definitely be on here.

message 1461: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) Hi Lacie, don't know if your familiar with the sight yet, but you can add books.

message 1462: by Lacie (new)

Lacie Solt yeah, that's what I'm doing

message 1463: by Nadya (new)

Nadya Twilight may be an enjoyable & easy read but it's hardly the 'best book ever'. I've read them all and even enjoyed the story, but it's terribly written & is full of bad messages to the target audience. It doesn't make anyone think, or teach anyone anything, it is just a poorly written teenage fiction novel. I enjoyed it like I used to enjoy Point Horrors.

This is a popularity contest that has been dominated by Twilight readers. Just a look at pretty much any other top 100 list on the internet shows you a more accurate overall portrayal.

I'm not saying it flat out shouldn't be on the list, just at #1 #2 #3 and #4 it's taking the biscuit a bit.

Hey. Buddy. Since when does Moby Dick, War and Peace, Crime and Punishment, Anna Karena, The Brothers Karamazov, Remembrance of Things Past, etc. etc. get stepped up by the books of Mormon. Even though this is a list of "books", I believe that it should only be restricted to "literature", or at least "quality literature".

message 1465: by Antra (new)

Antra Arora Leslie if you think that twilight doesn't deserve to be in the 1st place then think again.

message 1466: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) We've been through this all along Nadya. Mostly I've taken to just looking at the list and chuckling. You see the emotion, some people get angry about whether a book should or shouldn't be on the list. I think that most of the top books here will be, less than lauded in say 25 years, but the people who love them now really love them. I just hope it bodes well for the future of books. Maybe the people who are reading Twilight today will be reading Dumas tomorrow. Who knows.

David Marla wrote: "this is the second list--worst books was the first--and i'm done. this is madness. i mean, how many mormons congregated to vote the book of mormon as a top 100 book? really?"

I mean. How many morons congregated to vote Twilight into the top 100? really?

message 1468: by Susie (new)

Susie Why is Twilight series first?

message 1469: by Erin (new)

Erin seriously.... twilight? twilight is NOT a "best book ever". What the hell is wrong with the world... I agree with with Nadya and that this is solely a popularity thing.... or a bunch of 14 yr old girls are running this site.

People need to branch out a little more, sheesh. I am disappointed with this list.

message 1470: by J. Satoshi (new)

J. Satoshi Twilight series? Really? Someone should start a new list with the title "Best books ever (no twilight allowed)" wah-wah-wahhhh.

message 1471: by Ines (new)

Ines Perkovic In what parallel universe is Twilight in the lead???? Ew.

message 1472: by Matt (new)

Matt Carter Really.. Sad. Think of the criteria here. Why not look at the 'best' books according to average ratings. The Twilight series may be getting lots of votes in terms of popularity, but the rating of the books is basically average. So what is 'Best'; most popular?

message 1473: by Esiasch (new)

Esiasch My mushrooms hurt now. Thanks a lot homo sapiens sapiens en masse.

message 1474: by Carly (new)

Carly The entire Twilight series (not a fucking saga) is the entire top 4? I've made an attempt to read it. It's horrible writing. It's merely there because of popularity purposed. : / Looks like most of the people on this site are 14 year old girls. Fucking marvelous.

message 1475: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) I hope it's just the ones who bothered to vote.... Of course that might say something about who gets elected elsewhere. Sort of scary...

message 1476: by Diane (new)

Diane Twilight!? Book of Moron?! Pul eeze!!!

The only thing this list is truly good for is marketing. Book sellers rejoice!

message 1477: by M. (new)

M. I would like to point out that no where in the description of this list specify that these books are literature. Since it merely states books I feel that "The Book of Mormon" and any other religious text that people feel should be on the list are worthy.
I would not agree that the "Twilight Saga" are the best books ever written. I was entertained by them but I would put many others before them. My sisters and I refer to them as fluff reading. And fluff is good after one fights ones way through something with more literary merit.

message 1478: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) Any book can be added.... we get so carried away. (LOL)

Hi M, how's Q?

message 1479: by Festus (new)

message 1480: by Festus (new)

Festus i love reading Percy jackson and the Olympians... just sharing

message 1481: by Alienne (new)

Alienne Twilight is the best book in the world? Someone shoot me.

message 1482: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) Take heart and have a sense of humor Alienne, we just have a lot "voters" who are either "young" or at least "young at heart" :)

message 1483: by eliza (new)

eliza I'm going to suppose that a mass of trolls decided to wreak havoc on the votes because...yep. That is a nice top four.

message 1484: by Alienne (new)

message 1485: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) I think everybody reacts that way when they look at almost all these lists... :)

message 1486: by Marcin (new)

Marcin Twilight on the top? This is some kind of joke.

Ahmet Alphan Sabancı Twilight? Best book ever? Seriously, what's going on here? Are we really talking about books or everything about literature is changed and i missed all? :/

message 1491: by Veronica (new)

Veronica I am disturbed by the fact that all the Twilight books are in the top spots. euugh.

message 1492: by Veronica (new)

Veronica I am disturbed by the fact that all the Twilight books are in the top spots. euugh.

Adrianna [SypherLily] Stephenie Meyer's storytelling in the Twilight saga is an extremely easy read so it's no surprise to me that so many young readers, not to mention those who obviously don't read much, voted for such a boring series as "Best Books Ever".

I don't care if people love it, adore it or even worship it for that matter, but for goodness sakes I don't understand how this hype has gone on for so long and I just long for the time it will end and good books will receive the highest ratings.

message 1494: by Liz (new)

Liz There are some parts of this list I agree with and some that I, well, don't.
The Twilight series as the top books ever? It doesn't matter if you're a Twifan or not, but there is no possible way people can agree that those are the best books ever written. Things like Romeo and Juliet, Anne of Green Gables, Count of Monte Cristo are rated LOWER than those books?
Honestly, I'm sort of dissapointed right now.

message 1495: by Malorie (new)

Malorie Of course, it does say "Best Books Ever" right? So that, already sounds like a casual list of books that lots of people thought were "so good". That doesn't make them the best books ever written. It just means they win popularity contests. So, yeah, I think it's not a surprise what books made the list. Lots of people read Twilight.

message 1496: by Mitxi (new)

Mitxi Jazmine wrote: "Twilight is the best book I've read in my entire life! It is awemazing! I love the whole saga and Edward Cullen!"

It is truly, many people seem annpyed by it, which I don't get. Many just have not read the books and simply judge the books. And they just see the movies, but the books are way better.

message 1497: by Esiasch (new)

Esiasch I don't care how "fun" or "entertaining" the Twilight series is. Hell, I don't even care if they are the most entertaining books ever written, they do not live up to Poe, Joyce, Alighieri, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, or any number of histories brilliant geniuses who wrote literature that was actually intended to grab you by the throat and force an intellectual reaction out of all but the most uncivilized of people. I like fluff reading. We all do but Jesus Christ!? Are you kidding me? And then I think about how much broader of a perspective the word "book" forces us to have and that's when I lose it (no Plato, Hume, Buddha?)...(sigh). But whatever at least kids are reading something right....(sadness ensues).
