The reason Twilight should not be on the best books ever list is because it is not a classic and should not overrun To Kill A Mockingbird and The Chronicles Of Narnia.

Thank you Stephenie Meyer.

Did I mention Les Miserables?"
Yes yes yes!!!!
But Twilight as 3rd? come on. I can see top 100 maybe but 3rd?!?! no

Agreed! LOL!

Endre:Is there a moderator that could eliminate the vulgar comments as above?
I don't see anything wrong with the Book of Mormon being in the list. I don't ..."
If you really think that Twilight is THE BEST BOOK of this last century..or even of this decade..whatever this little category is, then you are a grade A moron. Forget your little speech about how we should leave people like you alone. You're just a moron. I like the books, but come on. The best we have? Try reading something nonfiction for starters. Try something where the main characters aren't teenagers. You must just looooove Harry Potter. *rolls eyes*

And where is The Shack?"
It's definitely not the best book ever. None of them are. Ridiculous. Doesn't it just make you sick?

You can't even spell amazing. Your vote doesn't count.

Shut up, Endre. Quit being a pansy. We're adults. If we feel like using "big people" language that you can't handle, then get off the site.

Very Good Advice. This is just a lis..."
It's fun to vetch mindlessly, though.

I retract previous comment. Your comment doesn't count because you use the term "awemazing", AND you are listing Twilight as one of the best books ever written. Double whammy.

Yes, let's pander to morons.

I'm sure to get kicked off for being insulting, but before my send off, I think you little Twilight twats should read something of substance. And you Godly people should pick up something about persecution!

I think they have some good options, but I agree about this list making one sick.

yes actually I have thank you very much. It was a good book. I agree with twilight however, it is poorly written and totally killed what the world has every known about vampires. They are blood sucking horrible monsters. NOT loving, beautiful creatures. However I have to disagree with what you are saying about the Book of Mormon. Let me ask you something, have you every read it? No? That's what I thought. How can you critique a book and hate people for liking it when you have never read it?! Try reading it first and then you can say whether or not you disagree or agree with it.

As for Twilight (and it's clones...well that's not accurate as there were books about "lonely romantic" vampires before it. Twilight is just the most well know). I "feel" the same way about using one of mankind's oldest mythical monsters as some sort of sympathetic love interest. The actual vampire of legend was not even a human anymore. it was "something else" that had taken possession of the person's body...after "eating them". The consumptions of "blood" was seen as the consumption of the "life force". So, I dislike the use of vampires positively...i feel like if you find an "undead" in your story, stake it.
This is a discussion about "brain candy" there is one novel "out there" where the monster hunters are stymied in their attempt to "take out" a nest of vampires because the local mayor wants to "open a dialog" with the poor misunderstood creatures. they can't proceed until the mayor gets eaten.
;)
Why is Jane Austen on this list!? Nah, I'm just kidding.
But in all seriousness, why the fuck is Twilight on there?

Thanks Mike I fully agree and have always said that myself.

Actually you spell it Book of Mormon

"
people have also read Garfield comics. Based on your comment should that also be on the list?

Oh and if I were going for a cartoon book, maybe Charles Schultz would be better? :)

But I actually don't think that there IS a best book ever, since everyone has different opinions. But maybe that's the point. Oh gosh I'm not making sense, am I? Don't mind me. I'm just tired.

I definately agree with you. We all have our different opinions so there will always be a lot of favorite books.

It's a website poll. Nuff said.

I full heartedly agree with you Candace

Mike and Elly: I think you were missing my point about listing Garfield.

As I started to vote for allot of books I thought, they can't all be best...even if many are great. I decided that for my standard of "best book of all time" it must hold a little more weight in the world then just sooo awesome and a favorite. So I opted to vote only for those books I both loved to read and, from my point of view, had an impact on the world or many people.
I would be interested to know the criteria other used to determine the "best book of all time" for them. What did you use as your definition?

I would base my vote on books that I love. Since I can't speak for anyone else, I can only rate books that I feel I couldn't live without having.
The way you respond to a book is going to be unique. You can read the same book I can and not come out feeling the same. I think you should rate any book based on how you feel and forget how you might think it has impacted other people. What did that book mean to you?

No.
