There are several things you can do.

1) Work on a different scene. You don't always have to work from Point A to Point B. If you're even the slightest bit of a "Plotter" writer, working on a scene that is fitting your mood for the day can be far more inspiring than starting at The Beginning. I'd say I'm 70% Pantser, 30% Plotter.

2) Music. Music can be a worthwhile tool in making additional connections in your brain. Either use music to suit the scene you're writing, or try classical. Science has proven that classical music can help stimulate your grey cells.

3) Unplug. Perhaps turning *off* the music is more beneficial to you. Create an environment that has little to no distractions for you. Eliminating things that pull your mind away from your task-at-hand can help relax you and assist with your focus.

4) Write ANYTHING else. Try a blog post, or your journal/diary. Close your current work and commit to a 10-minute warm up writing activity to get the blood flowing to your fingers. The simple act of writing can help get your brain train moving down the right track. And lastly...

5) Walk Away. In the words of one of my favorite Food Network chefs, Alton Brown, "Walk away. Just, walk away." Taking a 15 minute break to literally go outside and get some fresh air, stretch those muscles, and physically get a different perspective can help ease your nerves.(less)

The books, the editing, and the stealing

Hello Precious Readers!

I’ve some good news and bad news. Since I always believe in ending on a high note, here’s the bad news:

My first book, Capture Me, was pirated by LibGen. If you haven’t heard, this last week all of the author world was abuzz over The Atlantic article that brought to light the massive META (Facebook/Zuck) data breach that was used to train AI programs. This included, 7.2 m

“Nothing ends a first date faster than finding a dead body.”
Katherine Bacher, Capture Me

“Misha didn’t appear taken by her charm. He eyed her as if she’s asked him to make her a garlic pizza in the shape of a cross. I laughed: I couldn’t help it. Leave it to Shayna to try to befriend the guy who’ll probably suck us dry by sundown.”
Cecy Robson, Sealed with a Curse

“Shit happens. But so does magic." ~ Celia Wird, SEALED WITH A CURSE: A Weird Girls Novel”
