added a status update: In reviewing George Saunders' Vigil in the lRB, when Adam Mars-Jones says that "the eye, accustomed as it is to punctuation that aims to smooth the experience of reading rather than roughen it up," he reveals himself, again, as a pissy little reviewer with a conventional mind and a censorious streak. His engine of thinking is as powerful as a hand crank. Yes, mark me down as undecided.
