Martin powers home again. As with the first book of the epic fantasy series, the quality of the writing, the depth and subtlety of the characterisation, and - it has to be admitted - the ferocity of the storyline continues.

the series continues with new characters coming to the front. the beauty of these books is that upon reading them, you never get confused on who the narrator is for the chapter. they are such distinct characters. the Lannisters rule and fight against the Starks. the King continues to be a prat. Sansa starts to develop a bit of a brain(I couldn't stand her in the first book, but I have problems with girly characters). Arya has to give up her charade and she starts to learn about power(thru Jaqen)

And you thought it was bad when there was just one frighteningly ineffective king. Now you've got a growing list of would-be successors to the throne. Things go from bad to worse :)
