What Members Thought

Ida Mae's story is inspiring. When I closed the book I wanted to know what happened to her after the war, but I guess the author didn't want to tie up her story neatly. When I thought about it I realized that Ida Mae's life wouldn't be neat. It would be messy. There would be difficult issues involved no matter what happened next. She isn't the sort who is destined to live happily ever after. The trajectory of Ida Mae Jones' life after World War II probably could not be published as a YA novel.
