What Members Thought

Nancy Farmer has a gentle, fanciful, intriguing style that (for me) evokes Frank L. Baum's "Oz" series and the best of Roald Dahl. It's fun for adults as well as for children, because there are deep themes and hints of a well-thought-out world. Each strange thing raises questions about why it exists and who created it.
