Okay - the ending - what!!!!!
The book is a page turner, well paced and the characters are well drawn. I enjoyed seeing them mature through the pages, and though it's inevitable what happens between the two, I have to say the ending blew me away. Not what I was expecting but the most authentic ending that Blackman could have devised.
Really enjoyable and one that will continue to haunt me until I can track down the next book. ...more

If it's possible to give 10-star, I would. I don't think I could write longer review since I'm still recovering from an emotional damage after reading this book. ;-) And I don't think I have the strength left to read the sequels. It was a good read though, I enjoyed it.

When I started this book, I was immediately disheartened by the very short chapters and the back and forth POV. Also, it sort-of had a didactic feel to it, but shortly I was hooked and must say that this is one of the best books I've ever read.

What I love about this story is that it was not narrow minded to only one point of view. It shows us racism is stupid either way. Like in the past the people fighting against segration or any law the violated civil rights werent only of one color but of many and we banded together by not the black or white race but the human race.
