The first book was OK, and knowing how popular the series was, I decided to try book 2. And now I'm done. I did not like the main character. There is some interesting world-building going on, but the characters are not drawing me in. I also can't stand the constant use of parenthetical asides. A little here and there is fine, but they are used so much that soon it was all I could focus on. ...more
