When Lawrence Anthony heard about a herd of rogue elephants that were about to be destroyed he was determined to rescue them. The elephants were brought to his game reserve, Thula Thula in South Africa. After much effort he gained their respect and trust. I was wowed by the elephants intelligence and their interactions with Mr. Anthony. This is a fascinating story about life on an African game reserve that I hope to someday visit.
It isn't often that a book so captivates me so that I can stay awake to read it in 'one-sitting',but this book did.
Wonderfully touching and insightful.It was surprising to read how these wild elephants came to trust the author,due to his patience and perseverance in taking his time to gradually insinuate himself and his assistant/friend-David ever closer to the elephant enclosure.
