I knew better than to start reading "Transition" in the evening, but I couldn't help myself and ended up staying up till 2am to finish it in one shot. The story is addictive, the background and characters well-defined, and the descriptions are perfect. Ms. Johnston has found a great balance between description and action, with enough sensuality to make it hot while keeping it safely in the teen-zone.

“Transition” has quite an intriguing premise: Chimeras, a mythical race of beings composed of three animals in combination (in Greek myth; lion, goat, and snake), actually do exist and have for millennia.
