I actually read this on my own when I was 12 or 13. My dad had a collected works of Steinbeck book and I picked it up while we were on vacation. I think I've re-read it since then but I'm not sure, plus I have all those movie versions floating around in my head too. The only negative thing I'd say about the book is the way it's perpetuated (or maybe it originated here) the notion that people with developmental disabilities are freakishly strong and unaware of their strength and therefore dangero

Interesting book; it seemed to move a little faster than I would have preferred, but it was a good read. I don't think I would read it again, but I really liked the relationship between the two main characters.
