The first time I read this I was in college. I don't remember many details of that reading but do remember thinking that this was an ok book but I didn't really understand where Edna was coming from. A few years later, marriage, time in the workforce, keeping a home clean and stable, I think I am able to understand her just a bit more.

It was very poignantly written, and made the reader really empathize with Edna's situation. I'm still not sure if I cared for the ending though... I also wished it was longer!
