Don't hold my review of this book against it - this book is not meant for me. It is about asceticism and privation, which I don't care to read about at the moment. I took two good hard runs at it and wound up sending it back to the library unfinished both times. The prose is lovely, wandering off into almost random strangeness at times. ...more
