Que tu hermano sea el fantasma malvado del que debes huir debe ser terrible. Pero tener que verle salir de la tumba es mortal. Si no, que se lo pregunten a Henry Durrie.
Como siempre ocurre con Stevenson, una prosa magistral nos arrastra por medio mundo, con unos personajes dolorosamente humanos que se encuentran sujetos a sus pasiones y a sus convenciones sociales, mostrándonos el bello rostro de la maldad.
Estupendo. Breve. Doloroso.

A completely underrated story from Robert Louis Stevenson that I had never heard of prior to learning of the “1001 books to read before you die” list. Very dark tale of a sibling rivalry between two Scottish brothers and the lengths one goes to ruin and avenge the other. I found the book especially interesting in its theme of how all encompassing the desire for revenge is within both the Master of Ballantrae and his brother.
