Does anyone remember that Seinfeld episode where Elaine hated The English Patient? I spent the first 250 pages of this book thinking I had been snowed into believing I should read this book. Strangely, the last hundred pages or so I became riveted. If I could review this book in sections therefore, they would be vastly different. So I would have to say that if you're up to feeling like you want to stab your eyes out for 250 pages, go for it. It might be worth it to you in the end. I did learn a

I can't believe I'm re-reading this. A Tale of Two Cities stands out as the ONLY book assigned to me in school (in all my years of school) that I did not read. I tried, I did, but I just couldn't wade through it. (Didn't help that it was assigned immediately after Great Expectations. I'd HAD it with Dickens by then. What was my high school freshman English teacher thinking?) To fulfill the Ultimately Reading Challenge category, "book you were supposed to read in school," this was my only option.

I liked it fine. However, it didn't pull me along and I kept feeling like I forgot what it was about. I found I would have to re-read pages to remember what was going on - even if I had just set it down for a minute.
