It's a classic. I won't bother with plot summary, but I will focus on some ideas I thought about while I was reading the book.
Anti-semitism is as old as stories. I am not sure if Scott was heavyhanded on purpose, or if this was the standard for humor at the time. I wonder what the Jewish population was in the first quarter of the 19th century.

It's set in one of my favourite periods of history, and in my favourite parts of the world. Coming from Nottingham I guessed who the yeoman was as soon as he split the arrow at Ashby-de-la-Zouche.
It obviously isn't completely accurate, King Richard spent most of his reign fighting in the crusades, but King John wasn't a particularly nice character hence the Magna Carta.

It gets a tad boring towards the end. Oh, and I'm not sure about the anti semitic undertone.
