Interesting to read what a conquistador who knew Cortes thought about the man and what happened when the spanish arrived. I don't expect even this account is 100% the truth, it would take an exceptional person to tell the whole truth especially nearly 50 years after the facts. ...more

amazing document of the encuentro/conquest of mesoamerica from ~1519-1523 or so. carrasco provides introductory material to situate any reader and articles to enhance understanding for specialists and non- alike. anyone with an interest in american history and indigenous cultures should read this. critically thinking about the intersection between the american indigenous cultures and european cultures still has a strong bearing on modern realities.
