Took me a while to get through this, possibly because it was a PDF on my kindle, so very tiny writing. However it was worth the effort. Would be easy to write this off as a book about drugs, but there's more to this book than that.

I liked it but I'm not raving about it like many others. Some of the characters were stereotypical. There is little about the setting, which is an artistic choice I guess.
I do wonder about Selby's deep knowledge about the feelings surrounding heroin addiction. He seems astute about it. The book generally has the ring of truth, especially about the less drastic addictions you find in the world, like chocolate. ...more
