Of all the McCarthy novels I've read, this one is the most humane. I'm not sure what goes on in his mind that such horrific stories come out of it...but you always know with McCarthy that he will show you the ugly side of life.
I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. But I have no desire to read the rest of triology. In fact, I have no desire to ever read McCarthy again.
I still think The Road is the best American novel written in the 21st century bar none. ...more

This book just did not interest me, and the style in which it was written was just awful. It was so confusing! The story (modern-day western) about a guy who rides from Texas to Mexico and what happens to him there did not interest me at all either. So, needless to say I will not be reading the other books in the series.
