Wat mij het meeste aan dit verhaal zal bijblijven zijn de ratten, torren, termieten, muggen, muizen, schorpioenen. Het boek beweegt, sopt, vreet, trippelt en krioelt ervan. Daarnaast geeft het een hele mooie beschrijving van het leven in een dorpje in de Himalaya en van een illegale immigrant in de VS. Loved the book. Kiran Desia is very talented in painting pictures with her words. You can feel India when you read it. (If never been in that part of India but the way she describes it is how I remember India). It's messy and beautiful, funny and complicated, violent and tender.
