Very poignant. Very raw. A booked that rocked Japan when published just 13 years after the Japanese surrender in 1945.

The book is like Japanease version of Lord of the flies by William Golding. Dramatic, brutal, true. Boys fighting for survival with nature and peasants who think the boys spread a disease.
