Wow, I can't believe I let this book linger on my shelf for so long. Far better than I was thinking it was going to be. I haven't devoured a book this quickly in ages. Definitely not uplifting, Cunningham intermingles the stories of three women in different eras as they deal with looming insanity, ennui, and aging with prose that is both florid and simple. I love Michael Cunningham and feel the need to go find every other book he's written. ...more
