This book was very personal for me. Not in terms of the characters so much, but more in terms of what was going on in my life and where I was with myself. I can close my eyes and feel how vulnerable and hurt I was at that time. I think that's why this book touched such a unique and special spot in my heart. A book that looks at what makes a family a family, is it blood or the ties that bind us together. When I read this I was living as far from ny family as I could live and still be on planet Earth. Now I'm back in the UK but I miss my New Zealand "family". ...more
