Maybe my fractionated attention span isn't up to the challenge of this book. It's like Kesey deliberately made it obscure to discourage the casual reader.

I give! Uncle!! It just isn't holding my attention. Just when I start to follow a thread, Kesey chucks it over his shoulder, grabs another thread and adds it to the bundle already in my hand. Many Goodreaders are hailing this form of storytelling as visionary, but several hundred pages in, it makes caring about the characters difficult.
