Ugh. I'm sure this is very brilliant and all, but it's extremely unpleasant to read. Physically repulsive, it's enough to scare anyone away from heroin, and yet, in some ways, it glorifies the experience in a self-indulgent way. Mind you, the book has no plot, and is just one drug-induced hallucination after another. It gets pretty boring after a while. Even extreme disgust gets old after about 50 pages. I first gave this book one star of the style of write was too confusing to understand. Since reading some reviews on it and revising said work I have given it extra star. Burroughs's drug induced state and paranoia are worth examining in the writing. I am not even going to try to understand him even further. Maybe I am not smart enough grasp the genius of the work and I am ok with that.

When after so much obscenity and provocation the only thing that comes to mind is "I'm sooo bored", it is probably better to put the book down.
I admit that I'm probably not hip enough.
