I loved this book for the first 100 or so pages, then I got a little bit bored with the monotony of the hunt for the Easter egg and the game within the game. I felt like I needed to fast forward VH1's Decade of the 80's to get to the resolution. I really wanted to really fall in love with this book, but I just couldn't, even though I am a Child of the 80's and still have my collection of Dungeons & Dragons rulebooks on one of the many bookshelves. Ultimately, I was annoyed at the length of the b

This books was excellent! I got sucked in immediately. Loved the characters, loved the plot, such an original book! I especially loved teh plethora of nerd references, and always patted myself on the back when I got them.
I hadn't realised Cline also wrote Fanboys, which is one of my all time favorite movies. I can not wait for his next book to come out next year.

Equal parts critique and celebration of geekdom in the internet age, this is the most insanely entertaining book I've read in ages! Chock full of more nerdy winks and pop culture references than Geeks Who Drink trivia night at the pub, I couldn't put it down from the minute I started (minus requisite working hours). Every child of the 80s who ever wished for a holodeck needs to read Ready Player One immediately!

What an absolute joy to read. Ready Player One is a pop-explosion. All the things one could love to remember about the 80's (give or take five years both ways) is in almost every page of this book. Chock full of references of music, movies and of course video games, Ready Player One catapults readers into an age where nostalgia can save lives. The last time I read a book with this many references was The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, now RPO is no Brief Life but it's still loads of fun. Whil

I loved this book so much that even before I finished listening to it on audio I bought a paperback copy at the local friends of the library bookstore.
For me, being a child of the 80s the references to that decade were fun and a great reminder of all the good things of that decade, I might not have been a huge gamer back then but I could appreciate the nostalgia.

Really 3.5 stars in my book (pun intended). A very good recommendation from my friend who lent me his kindle to read it, which meant I could never figure out a page number. I really liked the dystopian future vibe but I felt it was a bit ruined by the surfeit of '80s references. A friend pointed out its similarity to Daemon (another book I really liked). I'd be interested to read more of his work and I'm excited to see the movie!
