Ernest Cline managed to do something amazing when he wrote Ready Player One, creating a captivating narrative that oozes with familiarity while managing to be highly original.

I'm not a gamer but I grew up in the 80s and there's plenty here to love, especially the Monty Python and Brasil references, two of my favorite movies. A little slow in the beginning,maybe too much explaining. It's a good story, held my attention so 4 stars. I liked it. Overly hyped? Yes.
