Slow, slow beginning that took me several attempts to really delve into the book - it seemed like there were too many disjointed memoir-ish narratives about the initial outbreak that all seemed to sound alike and drone on forever.

**Pre-review** Reading as though based on "actual events" seems to be what draws me back to this zombie novel. World creation and unique storytelling sew together a cast of far flung survivors in the after math of a zombie infestation with a government unprepared and unorganized to take action.

I loved, loved, LOVED this book! It was like nothing I've ever read before. It's written as a collection of interviews from people who survived a zombie plague that almost wiped out humanity.
I was a little nervous because I absolutely hate short stories. Luckily, it was nothing like a bunch of short stories. The interview technique really added a human touch to the dreadful war details. Am I now totally prepared for the inevitable zombie attack. Sylistically I was surprised and impressed.
LOVED this book. The infection begins in China and quickly spreads throughout the world. This book is written after the fact as a collection of interviews of people involved from all over the world. You learn about how the different countries respond to this national and international emergency (the US retreats to west of the Rockies, deserting enclaves of civilians and masses of undead). Very interesting take and seemed realistic except for the whole zombie thing:) This could be adult or young
