Huh. Well that was still weird, but quite a bit better than the first two. There was a somewhat recognizable plot. And I like both Jake and Oy. Still, there's not enough story here and there's too much mythological feel which is more a style thing than a substance thing. So not really a fan but continuing along - unfortunately the next one looks really long.

Having gotten the exposition out of the way with books one and two now the story moves on right into thick of things. Starting with the addition of the third person to the group. (and a set-up for a major plot twist ahead.) It is in this book that we first see that maybe Roland's world wasn't that different from our own. A large robotic bear run amok and the ruins of a once great city, provide interesting introduction to the strange mix of things in Roland's world. A trip through the whole mess

I was skeptical about continuing with this series after the first two books, but I was justly rewarded with this much more plot driven and interestingly paced book.
While I enjoyed the others, this one was a real pleasure, and I found myself far more fascinated and drawn in than with the other books. The suspense was as palpable as electricity in the air, and leaves me driven to continue further in the series.
