This book started out pretty good. In fact, it gathers momentum and then just dies. This book suffers from what I like to refer to as the Star Trek Syndrome. It wraps itself up in the last 5 minutes, hastily and sloppy. I for the most part don't mind Saramago's writing style, it is fluid, but the blindman having having no name, just a description got really tiring. Reminded me of The Road, in that the characters were nameless, as well as the lack of quotations. Good Read!

Can't do it. Ten pages in and I had to keep going back to see WTH was going on. The book is written in the style of The Road, which I kind of liked, but found difficult to read. You're just so...far removed from anyone when an author writes in that style.

To be fair, I cannot rate the this with stars since I didn't read it. And I will also say this for the first time in my life: I think I will watch the movie instead.
