This is my benchmark book for post-apocalyptic fiction... I have read better (not many) and worse (way too many), but this is the one book I always recommend whenever I get into a discussion of the genre. Epic. Horrifying. Beautiful.

A story straight out of the 80's cold war era of the nuclear destruction of earth. Those left alive struggle to remain so and face the age old, "Good vs. Evil" scenarios. Do you choose to help your neighbors or horde your food and clean water. Do you choose love or power? This novel takes you on the long journey with these survivors. Will they live long enough to see the sun again and when the sun rises, what will be revealed? A good read and definitely worth the commitment to get through it. I

Big book. This was my second reading of "Swan Song". The first was 20 years ago.
Loved it then, love it now. The one thing that bothered me was it's alot like Stephen Kings "The Stand" published in 1979. To many similarities in the story line. I know authors borrow from each other and it dosen't take away from the book. Great book!! I'll read it again. ...more

Too many words. Too many exact same battles with the AOE. The evil didn't feel very evil. Swan had that cool crown armor and NEVER used it!
