[close] When passanges from an aeroplane face a short delay while a sick passenger is removed they see it as a short annoyance soon forgotten. But his removal and their disembarkment spark a worldwide plague as his illness is mysterious, highly contagious and fatal to most of the worlds population.

Only a handful of people are either immune to this plague or able to survive it. And it is these survivors who go on to face the trials and dangers of the world now that civilisation, law and order have broken down. But they soon learn that starting again is not easy and that the biggest threat may be other survivors themselves.
